An article in MyPaper dated 7 June 2011 says..
CO2 is pouring into the earth's atmosphere
10 times faster today than it did during a dramatic event 56 million years ago
which raised the temperature by at least 5 deg C
Geologists say that the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximim, or PETM, might have been a prehistoric dress rehearsal for a future climate-change event
that could be
more abrupt and more damaging.
UN scientists say that
the average global temperatures could climb 4 to 5 deg C by 2100 (in 89 years' time)
