What can you do during transitional labour? What happens if you start pushing before dilation?

The first stage of childbirth is labour, which is in turn broken down into three phases: Early, active, and transitional.

Phase 3: Transitional (Advanced) Labour

During transitional labour, the last, most intensive, and fortunately the shortest of the phases of labour which generally lasts 15 to 60 minutes, your cervix will dilate from seven to its final ten centimeters. Contractions are very strong at this point — usually 60 to 90 seconds long, and with intense peaks. Because they're spaced only about 2 or 3 minutes apart, it may seem as though you barely get to relax before the next contraction begins. During transition, you're likely to feel strong pressure in the lower back and rectum, nausea, fatigue, tightness in the throat and chest area, shakiness, chills or sweats (or alternating between them). You'll also notice more blood-tinged show as capillaries in the cervix rupture.

The last of the three stages of labor is a physically demanding and draining time and you may feel exhausted, frustrated, impatient and overwhelmed. Hang in there, though — soon, you and your newborn will be meeting face to face. Panting and/or blowing can help stop you from pushing if your practitioner says you're not ready for pushing yet. Pushing before dilation is complete could cause your cervix to swell, which can complicate delivery.

What can you do during active labour? How long will the contractions last and what's the interval? Is it a good time to ask for an epidural?

The first stage of childbirth is labour, which is in turn broken down into three phases: Early, active, and transitional.

Phase 2: Active Labour

Your contractions will grow stronger and longer during active labour, a phase that usually lasts from two to three and a half hours. You'll usually be in the hospital or birthing center by this phase. As your cervix dilates to seven centimeters, contractions will come every 3 to 4 minutes and will typically last 40 to 60 seconds (may not follow a regular pattern).

Do your best to stay relaxed and comfortable, and don't be shy about asking for whatever you need.
  • If you're having an unmedicated or natural birth:
- your contractions will soon become too strong for you to talk through them (start your breathing exercises).
- you might be offered a light snack and clear beverages or ice chips to keep you hydrated (you might get an IV to maintain fluids if you want).
- walk around a bit (if you can) or change positions between contractions.
- make sure you continue to urinate regularly.
- staff at the hospital will be on hand to take your blood pressure, time your contractions, and monitor the baby's position and progress.
  • If you want to get an epidural, now would be a good time to ask for one. If you do, you'll be hooked up to an IV to maintain your fluids and also probably be hooked up to a continuous fetal monitor. Try to change positions if you can.

What are the 3 stages of childbirth? What can you do during early labour? When do you admit yourself to the hospital for delivery?

The first stage of childbirth is labour, which is in turn broken down into three phases: Early, active, and transitional.

Phase 1: Early (Latent) Labour
You'll experience mild to moderate contractions that last 30 to 45 seconds and are spaced 5 to 20 minutes apart.

It's important to try to relax as much as you can during the early phases of labour — you'll need to save your strength for later on.

If it's nighttime, do what you can to get some sleep (when your contractions become more insistent, you won't be able to).

If it's daytime, keep yourself busy. Cook a few more dishes to add to your freezer stash, fold some baby clothes, and do the rest of the laundry so you can come home to an empty hamper. You can also try taking a walk, which might even kick up the contractions a notch (don't go anywhere without a mobile phone and make sure the battery is charged). Eat a light snack if you're hungry, but avoid fatty foods and don't overeat.

Don't worry about obsessively timing contractions at this point, but do check periodically to see whether they're getting closer together. Lastly, make sure you use the bathroom often — a full bladder can get in the way of labour (or get a quick shower to make yourself comfortable). Most women will head to the hospital between the first two phases of labour — as the early phase ends and the active phase begins.

2013 Christmas Greetings!

Woke up after a super long dream..at 615a. Weather's abit cloudy, but these few nights are very windy, and cold..sneezed whenever the main door is opened ajar once awake. Took a butter cookie, just in case the hunger pangs come 'knocking'.

Yes, it's a Green Christmas again. From the wrapping paper, to the scotch tape, and the carrier, they are either recycled or recyclable, resusable, and certainly reduced.

The only difference is I've outsourced the delivery for the first time to someone who's eagerly excited to be 'The Postman' to our neighbours. The Postman even helped to do the wrapping as well! Very helpful indeed.

Of course, something has to be sacrificed -- sleep, time and effort. As the saying goes, 'Nothing ventured, nothing gained'.

This time, The Postman learns the true happiness of sharing and giving. The joy derived is directly proportional to the fun and enjoyment
going to-and-fro from door to door delivering one at a time.

20th week of Pregnancy #2

11sep-17sep

Wed

Fri
Today TK Kum Mow birthday. TK said to go market. TK cried abit at Childcare as he's tired. The organic pancake with mushroom is back at Ikea. Yeah!. But there's no more berry juice. Boo Hoo. Missed a stop and bus went onto expressway. Ended up spent about 30 minutes more before reaching Childcare to fetch TK. Oh, is it a black Friday? Last minute notification of Lantern Festival mini-celebration with neighbours at 730p. May have to join them after making dinner at 830p. TK and Marmy finished half a bowl and left home. TK was excited as he took his lantern out. It is TK first time to socialise with his neighours this year. TK played happily on the picnic mat, walking around with lighted paper lantern with his friends till almost 11p.

Sat
TK granduncle passed away 5 days to Mid-Autumn Festival.

Sun
TK went for Di Zi Gui class and found out Teacher P was feeling unwell. Teacher L from the other class had kindly prepared some ingredients for them to make snow skin red bean mooncakes. TK tried his hands when it was finally his turn and was surprisingly very good with Marmy (helped to flaten the skin only) by his side. Maybe TK had tried or seen Childcare Teacher making them the year before. Brought some 'Gee zai bang' little piglet mooncakes to treat Di Zi Gui classmates but only had 15 as there were no more stock.

19th week of Pregnancy #2

4sep-10sep

Wed
Was fined SGD12 (Initially Teacher said SGD15 but Marmy corrected saying the clock was 2 minutes faster) as there's heavy traffic. Marmy was a little hungry when the bus finally arrived opposite the Childcare at 735p. Hubby made dinner and went to meet us at TCM when Marmy sent SMS saying we walking (past) reached TCM.

Thur
Went KMSPKS for a Dharma Talk. Reached 7plus after fetching TK. Hubby bought dinner with some 10 people in the queue ahead and waited at the seating area near the lift lobby after taking his share. Traffic congestion and TK was very cooperative and well-behaved, and walked on his own. TK was able to sit through the entire talk till almost the end, with a teddy bear and colouring pens and paper. TK wanted to be carried and go home towards the end as TK was sleepy.

Fri
TK asked to hug and bid goodbye at Childcare in the morning. Challenged TK not to cry when leaving TK with Grandmum later in the evening and Marmy will show him the online video on the song 'Jumping on the Bed'. Hubby waited at gynae clinic after buying set lunch at Lingzhi Vegetarian Restaurant while Marmy made her way there after buying a packet of fried rice for lunch. Missed a bus when flagged for bus some distance from the front of bus-stop. Thought the bus was slowing down but it picked up speed instead, as the bus Captain drove past waving to say something (thought he meant no need to run so fast). Lil' foetus weigh 248g and Mum at 44.9kg. Fetched TK earlier at 4plus and passed TK to Grandmum at Raffles Place MRT. TK successfully peed into plastic bag before MRT started moving when it stopped at Bugis station. TK didn't cry and was awarded 3 imaginary stickers. Good job! Met Hubby and dined out. Hubby had slight headache and took painkillers before leaving home.

Thur
Went for a warm shower at SAFra pool.

Fri
Fetched TK earlier at 4plus and passed to TK grandmum at MRT. Attended a dinner-cum-talk at City Hall at the end of Millenia Walk on Level 2. Made confinement plans with Hubby and considering the possibility of TK Grandmum helping during the day without staying for the night.

Sat
TK celebrated birthday at Grandaunt's place..but not many of his cousins were present.

Sun
TK went for Di Zi Gui class when it's almost ending after Hubby's race. Woke TK at 740a and was very fast to leave home to meet Hubby at race finishing area. Call for assistance to ascend the stairs in the underpass with baby stroller with a few more other parents. Race started 710a. TK shouted loudly, 'Papa!' when Marmy said Papa also wearing the same outfit like the many others around us. TK played 'Ready Get Set Go!' with Marmy as he's being pushed in the baby stroller. Marmy started pushing only when TK said 'Go!'. And when there's escalator, TK said to stop playing. Good job! There's a lot of cigarette smoke at Exit E of underpass. Finally Hubby found us in the crowd. Too many Salonpas booths and so the decision to wait for Hubby at a Salonpas booth wasn't a great idea.

Fri
TK had 2 oz Attain with Florify and asked for more. Had TCM medicine and later bread on the way to Childcare. Hesistating to get a pregnancy test kit from the pharmacy or call for gynae appointment directly. Quite certain it's positive. Inhaled second hand cigarette smoke at coffee shop opposite. Checked out the prices of pregnancy test kit at NTUC Unity and found out that the cheapest is NTUC Fortel Ultra sensitive at SGD10.90, followed by Clearblue Compact at SGD13.15, Clearblue Accurate at SGD15++. Fetched TK earlier to Grannies for dinner. TK fell asleep at 630p on the bus. Hubby was already helping to sweep floor when we arrived around 715p. Grandpa helped to cook after shopping at the supermarket with Hubby. Hubby helped to wash vegetables, and cooked rice (thought there was leftover rice in the refrigerator and so there wasn't enough rice for Marmy who's usually the last to take her share). Hubby made a packet of instant Bee Hoon for Marmy. So sweet. Grandma cut TK's fringe and hair tail without prior permission again while Marmy was doing washing of own bowls and spoons. Outrage. TK and Marmy shared a small cup of fresh milk before leaving.

16th week of Pregnancy #2

14aug-20aug

Wed
TK very tired from Childcare, and was quiet on the bus home. Reached home before 7p.

Thur
TK woke up on his own in the morning but wanted Marmy to carry out of the bed /bedroom as usual. Hubby went for swim in the evening to prepare for the run in about 2 weeks.

Fri
Went to KMS for vegetarian lunch and bought 8 glutinous dumplings. Made macaroni and noodles with grapeseed oil, fermented soya for lunch. Fetched TK at 4plus5 and TK went to Granddad's for dinner. TK was okay with Grandmum and didn't wail when Marmy left MRT. Good job! Attending a 2-and-half-day workshop at 7p. Sat
Fetched TK to Grandpa's for dinner. Grandma asked to buy for dinner. TK Grandmum helped to buy dinner and cooked white rice for 3 pax at SGD9. TK Grandma was silent when TK Marmy asked if the amount spent was okay. No one wanted to foot the bill. TK Marmy insisted Grandmum kept the SGD10 which was forked out of TK Marmy's pocket money. TK grannies insisted to buy TK (ended up TK parents topped up 10% when TK and parents ordered and made payment) a 1.5kg birthday fruit cake (nothing less) even though TK parents expressed that Ang Bao is preferred (from past experiences we know there'd be 25-30% leftover).

Sun
Went for Puja at SBF and TK went to Grandmum's in the afternoon. Marmy attended the last session of workshop. TK had pineapple rice for dinner there. Marmy made cheese egg to add to dinner.

15th week of Pregnancy #2

7aug-13aug

Thur
Today is Hari Raya Puasa PH. Hubby went for a swim. Had dinner at TK grannies' place to celebrate Grandpa's birthday.

Fri
Watched fireworks LIVE!

Sun
TK was attacked by mozzie on hand and legs just seconds when we reached the bus-stop, swollen and very itchy. Remember advice from an Uncle in the wet market that white vinegar is good for insect bites, better and more effective than any medication.

Mon
Went to visit TK Grandma briefly to get the white vinegar for TK after sending TK to Childcare. The hand seemed more swollen. Dabbed a piece of cotton facial pad with the white vinegar and placed on the swollen area. TK resisted, only to ask for it to be removed after a few minutes. Maybe there's stinging sensation. TK was cooperative and agreed to leave the cotton pad on his hand longer. Well done for excellent cooperation!

Tue
Went to volunteer at KMS to make glutinous dumplings for sale during the prayers in the 7th month of lunar calendar. Hubby made curry for dinner while Marmy fetched TK. Hubby has a run in 2-3 weeks' time. Will there be sufficient time to be physically prepared for it? Not going to TK grandma's place anymore in the mornings after sending TK to Childcare to offer assistance during her Medical Leave on Day 26. The reason given was that staying for a mere 10min (actual time was 20min cut down from 2-3h to 1-2h during weekdays and today there's tension and fireworks felt in the atmosphere) doesn't offer much help/make any difference. But why wasn't it made clear in the first place, and only until today? Fine.

14th week of Pregnancy #2

31jul-6aug

Wed
Hubby made porridge with pumpkin, seaweed and more for dinner.

Thur
Met Teacher M when alighting bus and TK refused to get onto the baby stroller. TK held Teacher's hand till we reached the lift. Later TK cried like police siren at Childcare and broke into laughter when we teased him. Teacher C said to treat TK bread with kaya/cheese in the evening and took TK inside to find teacher, TK said he wanted Teacher M. Didn't have much appetite again. The tummy bulges like a spare tire. How to hide it? Slight drizzle when fetching TK at 5plus. Hubby made dinner with bittergourd, pumpkin, french beans, seaweed..

Fri
Guan Yin Dan today. Going to Tse Tho Aum for prayers and vegetarian lunch. No common ladles are used. The Auntie and Uncle seated beside explained that the people there all like that one when they started digging into the food even though TK Marmy had placed own wooden chopsticks there to act as common ladle. Urgh. Had a small plate and left. TK asked to hold hand before entering lift at Childcare, and to be carried before entering Childcare entrance. One of his classmates was shouting crying loudly as she's having constipation. TK wanted to be hugged after seated and cried when Marmy's leaving. Hubby felt some discomfort and suspected leftover Bee Hoon turned sour after adding to a whole pot of freshly cooked food and so decided to pour away everything. Boo Hoo.

Sat
Hubby felt there's a need to spend more time with TK. Went for groceries shopping after lunch and reached home at 2p. TK napped briefly for 52min and was awakened by a boy shouting loudly. Went to dine at TK Grannies' place and Grandpa bought dinner.

12th week of Pregnancy #2

17jul-23jul

Thur
Drizzled in the morning. On the way to Childcare, a kind familiar lady helped to hold baby stroller near the entrance throughout the bus journey on the crowded double decker bus.

Fri
TK cried in class. TK Grandma scheduled for minor surgery. Fetched TK and reached home around 7p. Hubby dined at the hospital after visiting TK Grandma.

Sat
Went to the market in the morning. TK said to go find Papa when there's no SMS or call from Papa. TK napped for more than 2.4h and cried for some more accompany sleep.

Mon
Hubby drew a drawing of our Life Story. Missed my mensus again for the 3rd time with only slight stain. Hopeful for a meimei for TK at 3y+. Fingers crossed.

Tue
Forgot to bring house keys. TK Grandma had repeatedly instructed not to bring TK there as young children may be more vulnerable to diseases. Went to meet Hubby at the hospital clinic who's there with TK Grandma for a consultation appointment at around 10 in the morning.

Tue
TK shivering in cold after shower in the afternoon and whole body was cold. Took TK to TCM after dinner. TK insisted and cried to take bus 58 with Hubby to find Marmy for the first time after she left home. It should be bus 153 or 105. Sigh. Hubby took TK out to walk on the sand pit and took an evening Q number for TCM.

10th week of Pregnancy #2

3jul-9jul

Wed
Plan to fetch TK at around 430p. Searched online for vegetarian food places information websites. Grandma is fetching TK at last minute without prior notice. So is the character, and no plans can be made, or be announced in advance, or the plans will be kept constantly 'updated' or amended.

Thur
Hubby said that even a Diploma graduate can draw SGD2.2k per month and easily earn SGD3k after a few years. After NLB storybook was found at Childcare, TK insisted saying that the storybook is NLB, not Childcare's. TK didn't cry, but wanted to be carried into lift at Childcare building. TK stood on crowded bus holding tightly to the railings for more than 12min, and was carried for 1 bus stop. Great job! SGX launching online platform for trading precious metals such as gold directly. Global interest rates are expected to rise, including SG. Bank loans for housing may hit as high as 3.5%.

Fri
Hubby packed dinner to meet us at bus-stop and transferred bus to PMT 6plus. Had dinner with Grannies to celebrate Grandma's birthday at Miaoyi Vegetarian Restaurant at Coronation Plaza at 7p. The dishes seemed to have shrunk in portion, and we were only 60% full after finishing 80% of a half kilogram of mango cake. Disappointing.

Sat
Brought TK to collect movie tickets at Lido and ear phones at 10plus in the morning after making porridge for lunch. TK urgently needed to pee and we left the queue, asking the lady in front to 'chop' our place. Was our turn when we returned to the queue. Waited for the rest to arrive, and found a seat to feed TK 11plus and continued again at 12plus. TK went to visit Grandaunt with Grandmum in the afternoon. Granddad having sore eyes, so TK not going over to Grannies to stay for the weekend. Dined out at nearby foodcourt before going to family gathering.

9th week of Pregnancy #2

26jun-2jul

Going to the movie theatre next week to watch Despicable Me 2 with TK, Grandmum and friends as Hubby have to work. Rained in the evening. Took TK to TCM. TK was so tired and fell asleep on the way back at 9p. TK took milk and bread and said 'Goodnight' 'wan onn' to Papa. Hubby returned home later at around 11p.

Mon
TK was well-behaved and even praised himself this morning, woke up at 8a, and left home for Childcare at 840a, finally reached Childcare at 930a. Went to buy household products/groceries for SGD124.50 at Paya Lebar MRT before transferring bus 21 to fetch TK.

Tue
Prepared ingredients for dinner for Hubby to cook before fetching TK. TK going for dinner with Grannies to celebrate Grandma's birthday next week at Miaoyi Vegetarian Restaurant at Coronation Plaza. Grandma is going to bring own fruit cake there.

8th week of Pregnancy #2

19jun-25jun

Wed
Went to NLB before going to TCM. Was at TCM from 348p to 505p. Will fetch TK at 6p, Hubby had durian ice-cream for dessert and miso soup for lunch, Grandma went to fetch TK instead. PSI worsen to 161. Then jumped to 290 in seconds as Hubby watched on TV. Prepared supper for Hubby.

Thur
Hubby forgot to bring medicine to work. Had bread with honey for breakfast. PSI 299. Had tumeric thick noodles soup for lunch at noon. TK stayed home and watched soccer match instead of napping. Has TK become a TV addict? Grannies still go outdoors without face masks. Sigh. PSI shot to 371. Was wise not to send TK to Childcare as the haze is expected to worsen.

Fri
PSI 400. Hubby suggested with open invitation but Grannies may not like the idea to stay with us with air-conditioner since it's best that windows and doors are kept shut. Couldn't imagine what it'd be like to be PSI 600 since it's so bad at PSI 400. You still have to travel to work/school and the whole bus smelt of the burning smell throughout the journey. Brought bread on the way home from Childcare. Part-timers are hired to give out the free face masks to the needy at SGD7/hr. Took TK to TCM. TV8 programme 'Xiao Mao Bing, Da Wen Ti' 《小毛病 大问题》 at 8p topic is about Cancer. Is the ratio of being diagnosed with Cancer 1:2 now? If you're not a cancer patient, then probably I am. Oh no!

Tue
Grandma came after dinner at 845p. Granduncle bought some face masks for us. Was it 5 years ago in 2008 that it rained ice aka 'bing bang' 冰棒 in Singapore?

7th week of Pregnancy #2

12jun-18jun

Wed
Mozzie attacked again, for the 3rd time this week in 9 days since 2 and 8 days ago, this time 7 bites on the 6th floor of a HDB flat in Central of Singapore. Helpless. Slow traffic on PIE when fetching TK. Hubby fetched TK, missed a bus and reached home 6plus for dinner. Hubby was pleased as TK was very well-behaved on the way home. Grin. Steamed vegetarian Bak Chang for dinner. Cooked a little porridge for TK as glutinous is not easily digested and so won't be giving TK too much.

Thur
Cooked steamed egg for dinner to bring for dinner before movie 'Man of Steel'. Fetched TK at around 5p..reached the movie theatre around 645p. Hubby and TK Grandma went Toastbox for drink after dinner and buying our dinner.

Fri
Hubby went NLB before going home in the afternoon. Went for PPF at Lavendar MRT after fetching TK from Childcare at around 520p. Vegetarian stall at French Road (Lavendar MRT Exit B) coffee shop opened till 1p, so we ordered Luo Han Zi Char Hor Fun for dinner instead. TK was tired and started crying to be carried. Hubby pacified TK. Frown.

Sat
TK going Grandpa's to stay over after gathering at Grandaunt's place in the evening.

6th week of Pregnancy #2

5jun-11jun

Wed
Prepared the ingredients for dinner in the fridge. Hubby made dinner. Yesterday attacked by mozzie at bus-stop just seconds after reaching.

Thur
Failed to catch bus/MRT transfer to Kallang after walking 10min to wait for bus. Sudden downpour when reaching Childcare to fetch TK, so left the baby stroller there. Hubby on the way home to make dinner. Hubby gave new nickname: Efficient & Effective! TK feeling hungry and Teacher didn't give TK bread, so went to search for food, and ended up buying small packet of cut apple with skin from Rojak Aunt at SGD1.50 for the first time. Slight drizzle while on board bus home.

Fri
Hubby bought SGD8 dinner to Grandpa's place. Slow traffic, lasted 65 min and TK was feeling tired. Took bus transfer to fetch TK at 4plus at same bus-stop, so there's no need to walk from bus interchange. Forgot to bring umbrella as it started to drizzle. Luckily TK Marmy brought along a hat. Fruit Uncle at coffee shop below Childcare asked if we had umbrella, and lent us his for the first time. Plan to repay his kindness during Mid-Autumn Festival with a festive gratitude goodie bag. Drizzle stopped and came. Drizzle became heavy downpour just as we were leaving the Childcare. Reached home 6plus.

Sun
Hubby bought dinner and went to the Public Library at Bugis. Took TK to Grandaunt's place after dinner as there's a hand-me-down yellow umbrella for TK from his cousin T. TK bom-bom after afternoon snack. Bought raisin bread.

5th week of Pregnancy #2

29may-4jun

Thur
Went for a free SPA at City Hall after buying lunch, but ended up doing a foot massage since it's not the first visit. Unaware of the pregnancy at this time. Sneezed while waiting at the sofa seating. Body treatment uses machine, which may be a little discomfort.

Fri
Waited opposite Childcare at bus-stop, started to drizzle. Hubby cooked porridge for dinner.

Sun
Hubby wanted to buy TCM medicine for my cough with green phlegm instead as TCM was not open today. TK Grandmum called to remind Hubby to bring me to see doctor if still unwell. Similar symptoms as the 1st pregnancy 3 years ago.

Mon
Went to TCM at 4plus in the afternoon. Fetched TK early and reached home around 6p. Hubby returned home from the NLB after buying dinner.

Tue
Going to watch Superman movie next week. Can't wait.

4th week of Pregnancy #2

22may-28may

Wed
Did I have craving for the snacks? My menus didn't come. Fingers crossed. Lasted for a day. More like stain to me.
Hubby is going for a trial treatment worth SGD150 (30min) and fetching TK from Childcare. Successfully rejected the buying of package slashed down to SGD50 per session.
Went home to prepare Vegetarian Bak Kut Teh Pasta for dinner for my babies.
Dark clouds hovered in the sky at 6plus in the evening.

Thur
Fetched TK and waited for about 25 minutes for bus and reached home around 730p.

Sat
Brought TK to TCM. Went out after lunch.

Sun
Hubby going for business trip. Send off at airport and took TK to viewing gallery to look at aeroplanes landing/flying. Went to friend's place at Eunos who's 2nd daughter just turned 1 year old.

Mon
Today changed bedding, read papers, made porridge for dinner and fetched TK. Reached home around 7plus. TK very obedient tonight, urinated and said 'Goodnight' to Papa before going to bed at 10p even though Hubby wasn't home yet.

At this time, we weren't aware of the pregnancy yet. No morning sickness.

TK at 3y+

Child: Can Mei Mei walk 妹妹会走吗?
Mother: Mei Mei still a baby, can't walk yet, so need to be carried 妹妹一出世还不会走,需要抱。

Child: I can carry Mei Mei, no problem 我抱妹妹,没事。
Mother: But Mei Mei is still very fragile, the bones are still soft, so must be very gentle 但妹妹骨头还很软,要轻轻抱。

Child: Why the bones are still soft 为什么骨头还很软?
Mother: Because only when Mei Mei is older, the bones will be stronger 因为要长大一些,骨头才会结合便强壮。
Child: 哦 I see..

(A few days later..)
Child: Can Mei Mei walk 妹妹会走吗?..

TK at 3y 2m 13d went to bed without dinner

Child was so tired after a day in Childcare without afternoon nap 没睡午觉 (confirmed with Teacher the following morning). Dozed off shortly after boarding bus at 7pm in the evening 累得一上车便呼呼大睡了. Once home, Mother placed Child on floor mattress as Child is still wearing school uniform. Child slept, tossed and turned, grabbed Mother's blanket to hug, until almost whole body went under the junior bed 几乎整个身体都滚进了床底. Father and Mother 'rescued' Child by pushing the bed further away. Mother tried to wake Child up at 835pm for late dinner or supper, but Child erg..erg..and wanted to sleep some more 还想再多睡一会儿..

Father said probably Child may sleep through the night to wake up the following morning and hopefully not to wake up in the middle of the night 希望一觉到天亮.

Mother carried Child, walked around into the living room to the slightly ajar main door, but the sound coming from the TV is not helping as Child found difficulty in sleeping, so continued to erg..erg..a little bit longer.

Mother finally put Child to sleep at 920pm, with the electric stand fan oscillating from outside the bedroom. Mother and Father finished the remaining steamed Bee Hoon with potato and curry longbeans and Vegetarian Mock Pig's intestines leftover from dinner.

Child eventually woke up at 2am. Mother fed Child with organic soy drink and some mini cakes. Child fell asleep shortly again after 310am.
In the morning, Child woke up and was out of the bed shortly after some tossing and stretching, and urinated while Father is showering at 815am.
Child had some Milo drink.

Child: Mummy, we can leave home with Father today.
Mother: Then you must quickly change into your school uniform and wear your socks and shoes.
Child: Father, we can leave home with you today. 爸爸,今天我们可以一起出门。

Mother helped to wear the top, and praised and encouraged Child for his fastness instead of saying Child was slow 宝贝动作最快的. Father was pleased with both Mother and Child.

After Mother and Child parted with Father at the lift lobby at Level 1, they headed for the opposite direction of Father.
Child: Why did Father go that way? Will we see Father later? 我们会看到爸爸吗?
Mother: No, because Father goes the other way and we're heading to the direction of the wet market.
Child: Why 为什么?
Mother: Maybe if we walk to the main road and look back, we may see Father..

Mother and Child hurried and before reaching the main road from the carpark entrance, Mother saw Father hailing for a taxi on the opposite road.

Mother: Look Child, Father is over there 宝贝,爸爸在对面!
Mother called out to Father, who saw them and Child waved at Father. Father waved back before disappearing into the taxi.
Mother and Child continued on their way happily.
Child: (pointing to the flowers outside the CC along the road) Look, the flowers 美丽的花(Child told Mother a few days ago that Child loves flowers the most 前几天曾说过最喜欢花了). So beautiful, but Father didn't see them.
Mother: Of course Father saw. He saw them whenever he goes to the market.

Mother: (Just before reaching the Childcare) Later will there be a crying child asking to be carried 待会儿会不会有小朋友哭着要妈妈抱呢?
Child: 只抱一下 Only will hug once. And I want to be carried at the door, so I can 'kok kok' (knock the door).
Mother: But Mummy will press doorbell 可是妈妈会按门铃, so you no need to 'kok kok' as it's so soft, and the knuckles will feel pain.
Child: Then I'll 'KOK KOK' louder.
Mother: And you feel more pain.

Mother: So there won't be anymore crying to be carried at the door or the entrance near the shoe rack, or refusing to stand on own feet and wanting to be carried in future..as the floor is dirty, the students there walk around wearing their shoes near the door.

Mother bent forward and carried Child at the door to knock door. Just then, Teacher saw them through the glass panel.
Teacher: (opened door for Mother and Child) Why want mummy carry again 为什么还要妈妈抱?
Mother: (smiling helplessly 露出无奈的笑容) Because Child wants to 'KOK KOK'.

Child: Mm..是的。

TK turns 3 and gets to sing birthday song, make birthday wishes & blow the candles at family gathering..for the LAST TIME

Does anyone still remember that day when TK was expected to arrive in this world 2y 11m 3w 5d ago.. but didn't?
And the decision to go for scheduled induced delivery..
and the prearrangement for a companion to the gynae..including the regular check-ups..
And having to wait for something to happen in 2hr after lunch..but didn't?
And had to be re-induced and sent home..to wait for the waterbag to burst..

And happened just after dinner..
And a thorough shower and cleared bowels before taking a 6 to 8-min bus ride to the hospital
With a contraction every 10min..till it was few min..
And walking was even more unbearable & slower..after an hour or so..
And going through the subsequent contractions trembling..
And hoping for the whole episode to end soon.

And the pushing, and breathing, and going through the whole process with TK Daddy cheering..
with 2 nurses assisting by the bedside..
Finally felt a big lump of 'poo' coming out after a 4 to 5-hr ordeal..
And a greyish lil' newborn infant was brought to me for confirmation of sex of baby..
And TK Daddy taking photographs as best as he could..

And having to drink room temperature water after delivery even when TK Mummy doesn't want..
And wondering why no warm water..
Just so to urinate successfully, if not, may need insertion..
And the decision for the type of formula milk to feed newborn (NB)..
And dreaded to urinate as it hurts a little..
And TK Daddy visiting at the ward daily after work..

In short, it's not just about singing birthday song, making birthday wishes &/or blowing the candles..
it's TK Mummy Day too..
是的 宝贝,
你不一定吃到生日蛋糕、棉线鸡蛋
但孩子啊 在这个特别的日子里,爸爸妈妈想对你说 爱你 祝你
母难日快乐!

TK at 2y 11m 18d old looking out for others

Mother and Child boarded a single deck bus and sat at one of the 4 Reserved Seatings. Father followed behind carrying a recycling bag full of things, and sat down near the rear.

Mother: Do you feel cold?
Child: Where's Papa (爸爸leh)?
Mother: Can you see? Sitting at the back?
Child: Where? (Made sure Papa wasn't left behind..)

Alighted at destination.
Child: Where's Pa Pa (爸爸leh)?
Mother: Behind us..
Child: Where? (Saw Pa Pa and felt assured and asked no more..)

Www.mrkopi.com is a new place to learn about local coffee drinking by Mr Kopi. Coffee and Tea are the 2 most common drinks in the world. In Singapore, we like to call them Kopi and Teh, 2 words derived from Malay and Hokkien origins. Kopi and Teh are staple drinks offered in any coffee shop (better known as Kopitiam by Singaporean locals). In fact, most of us can’t survive the morning (or burn through the night) without a handy Kopi or Tea by our side.

How does Google PageRank works? Ask a million people, you probably get a million answers. So here is a little experiment. I am actually seeing how many of you will come to this page (the demographics and stuff) and click on any of the links. Will be sharing the results here too for you. This will indicate if BlogSpot is a good platform for sharing links. Cheers!

According to Derek H:

WordPress SEO isn’t hard…

You just need to know what to do, where to do it, and how to implement it.

Instead of focusing on what you want to rank for, look at what you’re already ranking for.
Take a second, and load up your Google Analytics. Look at your current keywords, and see the articles that already rank in search engines. If you’re not ranking #1 for any of the keywords that send you traffic, make sure you link those articles from your new stuff.
It’s easier to improve your existing rankings, than it is to rank for something completely new.

And also:
1. Links higher in the HTML pass more search juice
2. Search engines only follow, and use the first instance of a link

So, as my friend Tylus says always "Try and Track" as the SEO world i

Forgetful? Try eating memory-boosting foods

In another study, the phytochemicals, anthocyanin and quercetin, actually reversed some of the age-related memory deficits in laboratory animals. Some of the memory-boosting foods are:
  1. Some of the best cruciferous vegetables: Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, and bok choy.
  2. Some of the best leafy green vegetables: spinach, collard and mustard greens, kale and Swiss chard.
  3. Some of the best foods for anthocyanin: Berries (all varieties), cherries, black currents, eggplant, red, black, and purple grapes, plums, rhubarb, red onion, red apples, red/purple cabbage, and red beets.
  4. Some of the best foods for quercetin: Onions (red, yellow, white), kale, leeks, cherry tomato, broccoli, blueberries, black currants, elderberries, apricots, apple with skin (Red Delicious), and red, purple, and black grapes.

Papa was very touched by this gesture of TK's filial piety.
TK didn't eat much though as the crispy sheets of seaweed were not shredded.
Nonetheless, this act of offering and sharing
